Accessibility Statement
Tutor Chat AI is designed to support equitable access for students, instructors, and administrators using modern browsers, keyboard navigation, and common assistive technologies. We target WCAG 2.1 AA as our baseline accessibility standard for our web experience.
Tutor Chat AI is built for higher-education institutions. Platform status: LTI 1.3 is live for D2L/Brightspace; Canvas is in the pipeline; co-branding is available now; and Tutor Chat AI uses a secure proprietary AI model based on the Llama 3 open-source platform.
Supported Access Methods
- Keyboard-only navigation across primary workflows
- Screen-reader-friendly labels for critical forms and dialogs
- Visible focus states and semantic headings on public pages
- Responsive layouts across desktop and mobile browsers
Compatibility
- Recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari
- Common screen readers such as NVDA, VoiceOver, and JAWS
- Browser zoom and OS-level text scaling
- High-contrast and reduced-motion user preferences where applicable
Current Accessibility Practices
- Modal dialogs use accessible names and dialog semantics.
- Status and error messages are surfaced through screen-reader-announced regions where implemented.
- Email and phone inputs use semantic input types to improve autofill and assistive technology behavior.
- Core student, instructor, and admin dashboards are actively reviewed for accessibility regressions.
Known Limitations
- Some legacy dashboard flows still rely on older HTML structures and are being modernized incrementally.
- Complex data visualizations may not yet provide full text-table equivalents in every view.
- Some modal workflows still need deeper focus-trapping and focus-return improvements.
